About Us

In 1975 a meeting of people interested in the arts was called by the Mayor of Deming. This meeting organized the Deming Arts Council dedicated to promising the arts in Deming and Luna County. The group included those active in the arts and those who supported the arts.

The first DAC program presented contained music and featured the new Mexico Symphony Orchestra. During the following years, a variety of programs and workshops pertaining to the arts were presented by the council.

In 1986, the building currently occupied by the DAC was gifted by Kit Tremaine. For 33 years, the Arts Council had provided the community a wide-range of visual and performing arts.

Exhibits are changed monthly and cover a wide-range or works by local, regional and national artists in many different mediums. Artists’ receptions and exhibits are always free to the public.

The Deming Arts Council is an all-volunteer organization of people from the Community of Deming.
